The Grand Jury Report issued to all Walton County Commissioners in September of 2015 instructed Commissioners not to be involved in day to day operations and not to be involved in hiring or firing
county employees. So why is there an employee "hit" list of those the "gang" want fired? The "gang" want these people fired so they can replace them with their operatives. The "hit" list includes County Administrator Larry Jones, Public Works Director Wilmer Stafford, Assistant County Administrator Dede Hinote, Assistant Public Works Director Buddy Wright and Planning Director Wayne Dyess. Mr. Dyess indicated the day after the election that he would be seeking employment elsewhere. If any of these long time staff get fired or asked to resign in the future , the Commissioners who make this happen behind the scenes could be guilty of violating Grand Jury Edicts and meddling in Human Resource policies. Any lawyer would love to represent any one of these employees if they are fired, demoted, or asked to resign based on this "hit" list. Anyone, including political operatives, behind the scene asking Commissioners to "get rid of"any of these long time staffers for political expediency will be guilty of violating Florida Sunshine Law by acting as a third party intermediary to the Commissioners. It would take three Commissioners to carry out the "gang's" orders in a board meeting or one or two emboldened Commissioners orchestrating this behind the scenes with the help of the political operative. Walton County will never be the progressive job creator and great place to do business it could be if corruption in local government is allowed to continue. Call the Commissioners and let them know you want an honest, transparent, commission who follow what the Grand Jury and the ethics law require. Tell them to focus on the people's business and not focus on the operatives that got them elected. For District 2 Walton County Commissioner, Cecilia Jones, Christmas came early. After the primary election, where she worked hard in the election for the gang's pick, she drove up to the county in a brand new Cadillac! Then she was elected Chair of the BCC, Chair of the EDC, and put her candidate commissioner on the TDC. Then she voted to give your taxpayer money to the EDC in the form of a county vehicle. I guess gas and insurance is included.
It pays to be in the gang! Too bad the taxpayers get the short end of the stick. |
